New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans Saints are an American football team based in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Saints are currently members of the South Division of the National Football Conference (NFC) in the National Football League (NFL).

How did they become the Saints? The name Saints was the popular choice in a fan contest staged by the New Orleans States-Item. However, with or without the contest, the New Orleans team would most likely have been called the Saints. The franchise was awarded on All Saints Day, November 1, 1966.
